Bye-bye Balloonie

Yes, my Purple Balloonie is dying. It’s cancer. Crying face

On 11 April 2011, the balloonie was presented by it’s creator, Lynton, to the CF committee, along with its brothers, the Pink and Blue Balloonies.

The Purple, Blue and Pink Balloonies

Made as prototypes for CF’s Easter project, these cute little balloonies were handmade from flour, balloons, plastic rolly eyes and yarn. Won over by their silent charm, I decided I had to take one home, and thus began the life of the Purple Balloonie in the care of its excellent master, me.

As all the other balloonies belonging to other less competent masters began to develop cancer and slowly leaked flour, my Purple Balloonie still stood strong. It was healthy and glowing and continued to attract ooohs and aaahs long after its siblings and cousins slowly gave up life.

Finally, its turn has come.

The very same disease which has plagued the rest of its family has begun to take root and suck its life from within.

On this fateful day, its face began to crack. Stretch marks appeared and slowly gave way. A gentle touch was more than sufficient to cause its innards to pour out.

Glue was quickly lathered over its broken skin in desperate attempts to prevent any more white blood from gushing out. Tape was applied to reinforce the healing. After a frantic 15 minutes, it is no longer bleeding, but it is forever scarred for the rest of its short life. It is without doubt that it will soon be unceremoniously buried amongst other unwanted items.

Post-treatment Purple Balloonie. Not a sight for weak hearts.

And thus ends its short life. From the day that it was given breath to the time when its deathbed became inevitable, it has played the good part of letting people know that “God Red heart you for who you are”, and initiating that warm fuzzy feeling inside of you when you see adorable things, like furry kittens, yappy puppies, chubby babies, and of course, balloonies!

This Balloonie will be missed a lot. People far and wide will remember its kind deeds to mankind long after it has gone.

Even with its disfigured looks, it still says with a smile, “God Red heart you for who you are!”

Rest In Peace, Purple Balloonie. Rest In Peace.
