Hunger Pangs

I know it isn’t winter yet, but it is cold. It’s not painfully cold, but it’s cold enough to make you want to put on a sweater and a scarf. Cold enough to make you want to snuggle in your blanket. Cold enough to make you want to eat.

All the time.

I am not exaggerating. Sure, I ate a lot even when I was back in Malaysia, but being here makes me want to stuff myself chockfull with food. I even eat the hard pretzels just to fill my tummy. I can eat till I’m stuffed, and one hour later, I’d be craving for food.

I have no idea how many inches my poor waist will gain during winter. I hope it’ll be less than one inch.

It doesn’t help that I moved to my new home one week ago. It has only served to make food more accessible, because now we know that we can stock food up in the fridge without having to carry it all to a new place.

For the uninitiated, my new home is a 84m2   apartment which is simply amazing. We all fell head over heels for it the moment we stepped in. It’s slightly more pricey than what our other friends are paying for their respective apartments, but I suppose it’s worth it. At least, to me it is. It has a Jacuzzi (albeit a small one), four bedrooms (when there are only three of us), a comfy couch to lounge on, a HiFi set that no one uses, a small TV which no one uses either, and all of the other things you’d expect to find in a fully furnished apartment. Oh, and it has this too:

Teaspoon Duck

See that duck engraving? It’s at the end of a teaspoon, and I discovered it one drowsy morning by accident. Now I’ve claimed it as my own. Kind of reminds you of Donald Duck eh? Or his uncle, Scrooge. *goodness, I sound like a kid*

But ah well.

There’s also a thermometer outside my room window. I think it’s the only one attached to my apartment, so I’m pretty happy about it because now I can check the temperature outside to confirm that it’s the cold weather that’s making me hungry, and not because I’m a glutton. heh. Nyah-Nyah

In spite of all my hunger pangs, I’m actually rather excited to have the temperature drop even lower. I want to be able to wear my winter jackets and play with snow! Okay, now I sound even more like a kid, but who cares. It’s my first time experiencing different seasons and I have every right to be excited.

I really enjoy being here, especially with all the trees and blue blue skies. It’s almost as if they are praising the One who made them with their beauty, just like in the psalm:

11 Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad;
   let the sea resound, and all that is in it.
12 Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them;
   let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.

Psalm 96:11-12

I suppose, at the end of the day, I thank God for being with me and for bringing me here. I remember how disappointed I was when I saw “POLAND” in the offer from JPA, but it’s hard to not believe that God has a greater plan for me by not sending me where I wanted to go. Hopefully, prayerfully, I’ll be able to reach the perfect plan that He has for me, and be who He intended me to be. =)

Thermometer

Weather update:

Tonight isn’t as cold as some of the previous nights were. If you look really closely at the picture on the right, you’ll notice that the thermometer reads 12 degrees Celsius, which isn’t too bad. I can’t walk out in my shorts and t-shirt without having to run back in though, but it’s still bearable (yes, I tried walking outside in my shorts and t-shirt).

No worries, the Jing loves the cold even if it might make me more bulat.

And now, I’m going to grab a cup of orange juice and a Snickers bar at 10.40pm.

O woe is my waistline.
